Early Houdini Sessions

Buzz Osborne of the Melvins

Early Houdini Sessions

1992

Here are a couple of pictures of Buzz Osborne taken during the early Houdini sessions in 1992 at the infamous West End Studios in Seattle, Washington. The Melvins were joined by guest musicians Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE) on bass and Dale Crover (Fecal Matter, Nirvana) on drums. The sessions were produced by Jack Endino, who had previously worked with the Melvins on their albums Gluey Porch Treatments and Bullhead. Houdini was released on September 15, 1993, by Boner Records.

The Melvins played covers of Jimi Hendrix, the Who, and Ozzy Osbourne's beloved Kiss mixed in with their own fast and heavy originals. The album was a critical and commercial success, helping to establish the Melvins as one of the most influential grunge bands of the 1990s.

Buzz Osborne is the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the Melvins. He is known for his distinctive singing style, which has been described as a "gravelly growl." Osborne is also known for his sense of humor, which is often reflected in the Melvins' music and lyrics.

The Melvins have released over 20 albums and have toured extensively throughout the world. They are considered one of the most influential and respected bands in the history of rock music.
