Tax Extension California 2023

IRS Extends Tax Filing Deadline for California Disaster Victims

Eligible Taxpayers Qualify for Extension to October 16, 2023

Relief Granted Due to Severe Winter Storms

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced an extension to the tax filing deadline for taxpayers affected by severe winter storms in 55 California counties. The new deadline is October 16, 2023, for individual and business tax returns, as well as certain other tax-related deadlines.

This extension applies to individuals who live, work, or have a business located in one of the affected counties and who have been impacted by the storms. To qualify for the extension, taxpayers must file Form 4868, Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File US Individual Income Tax Return, on or before the regular due date of their return.

The IRS encourages taxpayers to visit the agency's website for a full list of affected counties and other important information related to the disaster relief. Taxpayers with questions can also contact the IRS Disaster Hotline at 866-562-5227 for assistance.

By providing this extension, the IRS aims to assist taxpayers affected by the storms in meeting their tax obligations while also allowing them time to recover from the disaster.
